The view from the bothy
Has magpies, bats and larks.
And in the lake are crayfish
Pike and schools of carp.

The hollyhocks and primroses
Feed the buzzy bees
And badgers, moles and little voles
Make nests beneath the trees.

A flock air-borne magpies
Wheeling through the clouds
An owl, a rook, a swift, some cows
All calling out aloud.

And there upon the horizon
A rusty ploughshare stands
A testament to days gone by
When the land was tilled by hand

From my back door, a wind turbine
Stands sentinel on the skyline
Not in my back yard they said
But actually I don't mind

It really is a landmark
Its everywhere you look
Its there framed in all my windows
I can see it when I cook

They say its spoiled the landscape
But the locals like it that way
Its essential modern ugliness will
Help keep Londoners away.
